Join me in seeking new ways to engage our alumni in support of UCLA.
Alumni are vital to the UCLA community in helping us fulfill our broad mission of teaching, research and service. Their emotional ties to the University and their own experience as students enable them to speak with authority about UCLA and to bring the world perspective back to campus in ways that no one else can.
The engagement of alumni in university affairs becomes even more critical when we face tough social and economic challenges, as we do now. The services that they perform on UCLA's behalf include recruiting top-quality students, mentoring young scholars, and serving as ambassadors and advocates for the University.
By working together to strengthen and support UCLA, all of us help to position the University as a vibrant community of scholars and students and as an influential force in shaping the future.
I hope you will join me in expressing our gratitude to our many alumni volunteers and in seeking new ways to engage alumni in support of UCLA.
