Join the Bay Area Bruins or upgrade to life membership
The Bay Area Bruins is a regional chapter of the Association, meaning that all association members that reside within our region are automatically members of the chapter. This differs from a regional club, in which the membership dues are collected separately. Our region consists of Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Monterey, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, and Sonoma counties.
All members automatically receive the Bay Area Bruins newsletter (inserted into the UCLAlumni magazine) and the monthly Connect@UCLA e-mail newsletter from the Association.

The Bay Area Bruins are looking for motivated volunteers to fill positions on the Board of Directors. Board members must attend bi-monthly meetings and plan and participate in events.

Featuring the original Mai Tai along with other exotic drinks and appetizers, Trader Vic's Polynesian décor is said to remind one of beaches, moonlight, escape, and relaxation. Date: January 11, 2009 Details: It’s the start of a new year and a perfect time to generate ideas for new events this year! The Bay Area Bruins would like to invite YOU to contribute some fresh and fun suggestions for our local alumni. Is there an event that you wish the chapter would host in the San Francisco area? | UCLA vs. ASU Basketball TV Viewing Party |
Date: January 17, 2009 Details: Our Bruins are looking good on the basketball court and what's more fun than a Bruin victory? Watching that victory with the opposing team! On January 17th we take on the ASU Sun Devils. The San Francisco Sun Devils will be joining us for the game and since we have home court advantage for the game, we pick the bar as we send them home packing. Stick around after the game for some post-game mixing and mingling with our fellow Pac-10 school. | Oakland Zoo Habitat Restoration/Landscape Management |
Date: January 24, 2009 Details: Want to beautify the Oakland Zoo? Here's your chance! Volunteers will spend ~3 hours to restore the environment for our residential animals. Volunteers are welcome to enjoy a free visit at the zoo for the remainder of the day. If you plan to bring guests, they must be at least 12 years old. Come join the Bay Area Bruins as we cheer on the Sharks, under the new leadership of coach Todd McLellan, as they set their sights on Stanley Cup hardware. Date: March 21, 2009 Details: Volunteer to cook breakfast with the children at the Edgewood Center for Children and Families! Edgewood helps children and families take back their future by working with them to overcome severe challenges like abuse, neglect, mental illness, and family crisis. Food is provided (although there is an option to bring our own breakfast as well, let us know if you want to do this option!).
