UCLA Football Game Watching Events

Date: November 7, 2009
Details: The Bruins are looking to save their chances to make it into a bowl game with a win this weekend against Washington. Join alumni in cheering on the Bruins on SATURDAY, November 7th at 3:30pm ET vs. Washington. The UCLA Club of New York will be watching the game at:

PAC-10 Flag Football

Date: November 7, 2009
Details: This Saturday, November 7th, come join fellow PAC-10 alums in a flag football game on Central Park's North Meadow Field “F” from 1:30pm until 3:30pm. (The field is closer to the east side of the park.) Flag football continues every Saturday through November.

Check out the Central Park website for the exact ball field location.

If the weather looks questionable, call Central Park's ball field conditions hot line to confirm that the fields are open. If they're open we're playing. Call (212) 628-1036 then press 1, then 2, then 808 for North Meadow fields.

Bruin Brunch Club

Date: November 15, 2009
Details: In the same spirit as Dinner for 12 Strangers, the UCLA Club of New York brings you the Bruin Brunch Club! Sunday is for brunch in New York City and with so many great places to try like Sarabeth's, Isabella's, Jing Fong, Balthazar, Calle Ocho and many more, why not try them with Bruin alum! This event is open to all Bruins and will be conducted on a first-come, first-reserved basis. Priority will be given to those who have not participated before. Estimated cost per person is $20-$35 depending on your order. Please note that the restaurants listed are the intended location but the final location is dependent on reservation availability.

RIVALRY WEEK - UCLA vs. USC Guest Bartending and Trivia Night

Date: November 20, 2009
Details: On Friday, November 20th, we'll kick off rivalry week with an alumni guest bartender from both UCLA and USC at:

The alumni bartenders will work (yes, USC grads will actually work) behind the bar to earn tips, which will be donated to our respective schools' local scholarship fund. Large tips will be appreciated!!! (For all the USC graduates, the absurd cost of your tuition is not a reason to stiff the tip jar!)

The bar will also be hosting a UCLA vs. USC Trivia game so be prepared to let the Trojoans know who's the smartest after all!!!

RIVALRY WEEK - 5th Annual UCLA vs. USC Flag Football Game

Details: The mighty Bruin alumni will battle their Trojan counterparts in a game of flag football. UCLA Basketball Game Watching Events

Details: The Bruins are pushing through non-conference play and will be tested in the 76 Classic Basketball Tournament! The UCLA Club of New York will be holding game watching events for every UCLA televised game starting November 26th!

Thanksgiving Dinner for 12 Strangers (Dinner for 6 x 2!)

Date: November 26, 2009
Details: Staying in New York for Thanksgiving and looking to share the holidays with the NYCBruins family? We're recreating the UCLA tradition, Dinner for 12 Strangers, but with an NYC and Thanksgiving twist. Due to NY apartment size limitations, we've created two "Dinners for 6 Strangers" hosted at a UCLA alum's home!

Dinner #1: EAST VILLAGE Thanksgiving Dinner for 6 Strangers

A UCLA alum will be hosting Thanksgiving dinner in the East Village. Get ready for some home cooked turkey and all the fixings! Space is limited, so sign up now! For more information or to RSVP, please email Sophia.

Dinner #2: MURRAY HILL/KIPS BAY Thanksgiving Dinner for 6 Strangers

Join Bruin Alum Alaine Handa and her boyfriend in their home in Manhattan for Thanksgiving. Enjoy unconventional dishes and find out what you can contribute to the dinner by sending your RSVP to Alaine.

RIVALRY WEEK - UCLA vs. USC Football Game Watching

Date: November 28, 2009
Details: If you haven't been to many games this season, THIS is the one to go to. Just think - 13-9!

On Saturday, November 28th at 10pm, the Bruins take on the Trojans and will be playing the biggest game of their season, hoping to end the season on a good note. Dashing the Trojans hopes of their expected bowl game will be icing on the cake! The UCLA Club of New York will be watching the game at:

There will be a $5 cover which will benefit the UCLA Club of New York to help plan UCLA alumni events and will include the following specials to be announced.

Due to the expected large turnout, RSVPs ARE MANDATORY and seating will be on a first come, first served basis. An RSVP list will be posted as soon as the venue has been announced.

We will have the entire bar reserved for us, but you should get there as early as possible for best seating selection. For those of you who attended last year, there’s no place you’d rather be than next to HUNDREDS of other Bruins, doing the “8-Clap!”

During the game a raffle and silent auction will be held to benefit UCLA scholarship fund.

Barnes and Noble Gift Wrapping Fundraiser for Scholarship - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

Details: Come join other Bruins donate their time to help raise funds for future Bruins! Volunteer to wrap gifts for scholarship at the:

We are wrapping three nights in December (TBD) from 6pm - Midnight and need MANY volunteers to help wrap gifts each night. We particularly need volunteers who can arrive at 5:45pm, however, please let us know if you are able to help ANY time!

Gift wrapping is free BN provides the supplies and 100 percent of tips go to scholarship!

NYCBruins Ice Skating at Wollman Rink in Central Park

Details: Ice skate in Central Park at the Wollman Rink with the NYC Bruins! The New York skyline will be our backdrop as we skate under the stars amid the beauty of Central Park. Family and friends are encouraged to come also. Meet at 6:00 p.m in front of the main entrance.

A weekend up at Killington, VT on February 19-21 sound good to you? Let us know if this is something that tickles your fancy, floats your boat, butters your biscuit...you get the idea.

Dinners for 12 Strangers: An International Event

Date: March 6, 2010
Details: On Feb. 27, Feb. 28 and March 6, Dinners for 12 Strangers will become a global phenomenon! SAVE THE DATES!!!

Dinners for 12 Strangers is a UCLA tradition designed to bring Bruins from all generations together to meet other alumni, students and faculty, and enjoy good conversation over dinner. The UCLA Club of New York has had its own dinners in the past, but this year is the first time Dinners for 12 Strangers is being coordinated as a global UCLA event.

So far, we have one proud NYCBruin alumna hosting a dinner on March 6, 2010. More details to come as the date grows nearer. Check back often!
