Alumni Association Scholarships - Get Involved!

Date: TBA: March, 2010
Details: In March and April volunteers will read scholarship applications and interview candidates to receive UCLA Alumni Association Freshman and Dr. Ralph J. Bunche Scholarships.This is a great way to get involved with UCLA; you'll have fun and meet some awesome students, the elite of the over 55,000 students who applied to UCLA for freshmen admissions.

Discount Tickets to Pac-10 Tournament

Details: Cheer for the Bruins on opening night when they play Arizona in the Pac-10 Men's Basketball Tournament at Staples Center. Enter UCLA at checkout and receive up to 50% off regular price tickets through Ticketmaster.

Bruin Blanket Day!

Date: March 14, 2010
Details: Do you know how to knit, crochet or sew? You can make a blanket! Do you know how to use a pair of scissors? Then you can make super-easy no-sew fleece blankets! All blankets go to Project Linus for distribution in Orange County- at hospitals, foster homes, and wherever they are needed! If you have any spare yarn or fabric, please bring it to share.
Location: Tentatively Kaiser Permanente Orange County-Irvine Medical Center, Alton Sand Canyon Medical Office Building 2 (ASN MOB2), Room C2/C3 (located on the 5th Floor), 6650 Alton Parkway, Irvine, CA 92618. UCLA Anderson - "Behind the Scenes" Series - Pacific Symphony

Date: March 16, 2010
Details: "Behind the Scenes" Series ...is a chance to get an intimate look behind the curtains at the workings and issues facing major companies in Orange County.
Our next installment of this series will feature a behind the scenes look at the Pacific Symphony, during their rehearsal the night before the big performance.
Experience the Pacific Symphony from the “Inside” with private viewing of a live rehearsal of Gershwin & All That Jazz in the Segerstrom Concert Hall. Just prior to the rehearsal, the group will be receive a personal introductory briefing from John Forsyte, Executive Director of the Pacific Symphony, on the operations of the Hall, the Director - Carl St. Clair, and the vision for the future of the Symphony. The group will view approximately one hour of the rehearsal and experience a world-class conductor at work. Prior to the rehearsal, there will be a No-host dinner at Terra Nova Restaurant in the Wyndham Hotel across the street from the concert hall. The group will walk over to the concert hall at 7:15pm. For those choosing not to meet the group for dinner or coffee/dessert will check in at the front of the Segerstrom Concert Hall at 7:15pm – 7:30pm.

Enjoy a Beautiful Morning Outdoors!

Date: April 10, 2010
Details: Join fellow Bruins for a brisk hike through the beautiful Crystal Cove hiking trails.
When: Saturday, April 10, 9am
Location: Crystal Cove State Park, 8471 PCH, Laguna Beach. Please park and meet at the Reef Point Entrance.
We will hike along the coastline and reach Pelican Point, then we will turn around and walk around the Historic District (approximately 2+ miles round trip with one steep climb).
We will picnic on the beach so please bring your lunch and a snack to share. For a detailed map of the park, click here.
NO PETS PLEASE.
Remember to bring:

"UCLA Night" at Dodger Stadium-7:10pm

Date: April 30, 2010
Details: Whether you're a UCLA fan or Dodger fan (or both!), join fellow alumni for a "FAN"-tastic evening of Baseball and Bruins as the Los Angeles Dodgers host the Pittsburgh Pirates. Your (discounted group) ticket will include a seat in the "My Town UCLA" section, all-you-can-eat Dodger Dogs, popcorn, peanuts, nachos, a souvenir Dodger cap-in Bruin Blue and Gold, and other surprises as well! UCLA Day-Calling all alumni home to Westwood!

Greeting Cards for Mattel Children's Hospital!

Date: June 5, 2010
Details: Learn to make greeting cards to donate to patients in the UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital. No experience needed! You'll make Birthday, 4th of July, and "thinking of you" cards to donate and you can take home a couple for yourself. We have plenty of stamps, ink, and paper for everyone but if you have any you want to use, feel free to bring them.

Piano Concert with Judy Huang

Date: June 6, 2010
Details: Judy Huang is a distinguished concert pianist who has performed both as a soloist with symphony orchestras and as a chamber musician. Judy, a UCLA alumnae and winner of many piano competitions, has also performed at Carnegie Hall. Program will include classical music.
When: Sunday, June 6,2010 at 2:00 PM for refreshments; program will begin at 2:30 PM.
Location: Irvine Presbyterian Church, 4445 Alton Parkway, Irvine.
Cost: Free; donation to our scholarship fund is optional.

Clean Our Beaches and Get a Ticket to Disneyland!

Date: June 19, 2010
Details: Join the OC Bruins to protect our resources by cleaning up our beaches! Register for Disney's Give A Day and get a free ticket to Disneyland.
Bring gardening or work gloves if you have them so we make less trash. We use reusable trash bags donated by www.everybodygreen.com that were made from recycled plastic bottles, so you'll need to bring the bags back to the blue canopy and take out recycle items and empty them in the blue Dumpsters. Drinking water and hand sanitizers will be provided, kids are welcome, and just wear sunscreen, closed-toe shoes, and an old UCLA shirt.
Starting 1/1/2010 Disneyland wants to inspire 1,000,000 people to volunteer a day of service: "Give A Day, Get A Disney Day" and 3 hours at a beach cleanup qualifies! You cannot just show up to receive a Disney day - you have to register.

UCLA Night at Angels Stadium

Date: August 28, 2010
Details: Network with fellow Bruins at the OC Sports Grill and walk to Angel Stadium to watch the Angels vs. the Baltimore Orioles.
When: Saturday, August 28, 2010, game time is 6:05pm; pregame party starts at 4pm.
Location: Meet at the OC Sports Grill & Bar, 450 N. State College Blvd. (across from Angel Stadium) BETWEEN 4 and 5PM to pick up your ticket (tickets will not be mailed).
