Volunteer Opportunities - Overview

As an alumni volunteer, you can give of yourself how and when you choose. Help with a specific program, serve on a committee or chair an event. With so many programs and commitment levels available, you'll find just the right opportunity for you. Volunteering through the UCLA Alumni Association is a benefit of membership.
Apply for the Alumni Academy
The Alumni Academy gives Association members the chance to develop knowledge and skills that may lead to future UCLA volunteer opportunities – within the Association and across campus.
Advocate on Behalf of UCLA
With state and federal funding dramatically decreasing, advancing UCLA's welfare has become vital. As an advocate, you can be UCLA's voice to various government sectors, communicating pressing issues, proposing policy, educating and creating understanding of and support for our University. Projects include UCLA Day at City Hall, UCLA Day in Washington, D.C. and the UC Day Conference in Sacramento.

Participate in Alumni Clubs
Build lifelong friendships and give back to UCLA. Activities include special events and programs focusing on scholarship fundraising, advocacy, cultural and fine arts, career services, educational outreach and athletics. Join the club in your local area or one that matches your interests.
Parents’ Weekend Guest Hosts
Parents’ Weekend, held in the fall, brings UCLA parents to campus to experience all that UCLA has to offer students. Alumni hosts at the Bruin Family Festival interact with parents of current students, share their UCLA experiences and welcome parents of new students to UCLA.
Honor UCLA Alumni
Nominate University alumni and friends for UCLA Awards. Help ensure a wide pool of nominees for these prestigious honors, including the Edward A. Dickson Alumnus of the Year. Select volunteers are tapped to review nominations.
Encourage Prospective and Admitted Students
From college fairs and recruitment receptions to College Welcome and Honors Days, alumni volunteers assist in UCLA's efforts to attract the brightest students, promote an interest in higher education and encourage enrollment to UCLA.
