ASC Vision Statement

To unite and utilize the talents of Alumni Scholars in order to fully embrace service, leadership and community by adopting PIECES, the organization's strategic goals:

Promote opportunities unique to the UCLA Alumni Association. Experience the value and benefits of the Alumni Association by participating in activities throughout the year, including Blue and Gold Week, Dinners for 12 Strangers, Interview with a Bruin and Spring Sing.

Identify and promote service programs to Alumni Scholars. Join us for fun opportunities to serve UCLA and the greater Los Angeles community through programs like UCLA's I'm Going to College athletic events for kids. Volunteer at one of the Alumni Association's events and rub elbows with dedicated Bruins while earning service hours for your Renewal Scholarship.

Encourage a strong social bond among Alumni Scholars. Meet fellow students while participating in our social activities such as ASC Adventures, ASC Quarterly meetings and mingle at our student mixers.

Create productive relationships with alumni. Interact with the alumni who made your scholarship possible at ASC activities and see what your fellow Bruins have accomplished with their UCLA educations. Enroll in the Alumni Association Mentor Program and get to know an alumnus who can provide guidance on your educational and career paths.

Encourage leadership among Alumni Scholars. Become an ASC leader and learn to manage student programs by applying to be a coordinator in the fall or an ASC executive board director in the spring. Hone your leadership skills at ASC leadership development activities throughout the year.

Support scholarships for the education of promising students. Spread the word about Alumni Scholarship opportunities by visiting high school or college campuses and talking to prospective students through our Ambassador Program. Support the next generation of Alumni Scholars by donating to the ASC Scholarship fund.

ASC History

In 1976, the UCLA Alumni Association founded ASC as a support group for students who had received Alumni Association scholarships. ASC originally focused on social events such as dances, parties and bowling.

In the mid-1980s, ASC focused more on service and initiated student recruitment programs. ASC members became more involved as volunteers at Alumni Association events. The club, however, was still considered a group of student volunteers, not program developers.

Today, ASC coordinates a variety of student and alumni programs in conjunction with the Alumni Association. The club's executive board develops and implements projects with support from more than 200 active ASC volunteers. Club meetings are held quarterly, and committees meet up to twice a month.

ASC takes pride in serving the Alumni Association and UCLA community, while working to create a sense of community among Alumni Scholars.
