Stacey Snider

Stacey Snider was appointed chairman, Universal Pictures in November 1999. She is responsible for all production, marketing and domestic distribution activities for the studio.
Ms. Snider previously served as co-chairman of Universal Pictures. She joined Universal Pictures in December 1996 as co-president of production and was promoted to head of production in April 1998. In November of 1998, Ms. Snider was named president of production.
During her tenure, Universal Pictures has broken its all-time domestic and international box office records. She has been directly responsible for overseeing the production of such films as The Mummy, which has grossed over $400 million worldwide; Life, which grossed over $100 million and become one of the year's most profitable films; Patch Adams, which has grossed over $200 million worldwide to date; One True Thing, for which Meryl Streep received an Academy Award nomination as Best Actress; Out of Sight, which was nominated for two Academy Awards and was named Best Film by Boston Film Critics, the National Society of Critics and the Writers Guild of America; and the critically acclaimed October Sky.
Some of the current films with which Ms. Snider is involved include Beacon Pictures' End of Days, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger; Jersey Films' Man on the Moon, directed by Milos Forman and starring Jim Carrey; Norman Jewison's The Hurricane with Denzel Washington; Steven Soderbergh's Erin Brockovich with Julia Roberts, Albert Finney and Aaron Eckhardt; Meet the Parents with Robert DeNiro and Ben Stiller; and Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas, directed by Ron Howard and starring Jim Carrey.
Ms. Snider joined Universal from TriStar Pictures, where she had served as president of production since January 1992 and was responsible for the development and production of such films as Sleepless in Seattle, Philadelphia, Legends of the Fall, Jumanji, The Mirror has Two Faces, Jerry Maguire and As Good As It Gets. Prior to joining TriStar, Ms. Snider served as Executive Vice President for Guber-Peters Entertainment Company (GPEC), having started there as director of development in December 1986. At GPEC, she supervised the 1992 hit thriller Single White Female and played a major role in acquiring and developing the highly acclaimed Merchant Ivory drama The Remains of the Day.
A 1982 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, Ms. Snider also received a J.D.degree from UCLA Law School in 1985. She began her career working in the mailroom of the Triad Agency, and after being promoted to the position of assistant, went to work as an assistant at Simpson-Bruckheimer Productions before moving to GPEC.
Ms. Snider lives in Los Angeles, California with her husband and two children.
