Explore the magnificent sites of China and Tibet on this 20-day odyssey. UCLA professor Theodore Huters enhances the journey, drawing upon his research in Chinese literature. In Beijing, visit the Temple of Heaven complex and the Great Wall. See the Terra Cotta Warriors in Xi’an, then travel to Chengdu’s Giant Panda Protection and Research Center. In Tibet, nestled in the Himalayas, visit Jokhang, Potala Palace and the Dalai Lama’s summer palace in Lhasa. Spend three-nights on the Yangtze River cruising through some of China's most beautiful scenery, including the Qutang, Wu and Xiling gorges. More About Professor Theodore Huters

Theodore Huters has been teaching Chinese language and literature at UCLA for 12 years. He spent two years in Beijing as Director of the University of California Education Abroad Program there, and has taught in two different programs in Shanghai. His recent book, Bringing the World Home, analyzes the reaction to the coming of the West to China in the novels and essays written in Chinese in the period between 1895 and 1920. His current research project is on the development of modern Shanghai culture in the period after 1860.
