The UCLA History Department is pleased to announce its elite travel series for those seeking a unique travel experience. Designed by the department’s distinguished faculty, in partnership with UCLA Alumni Travel and the History Council, these trips offer discriminating travelers an adventure like no other. There are many things to consider when planning the perfect trip. One may want to visit a historic destination experiencing history and culture that’s off the beaten path. Or indulge the senses in one of the destination’s finest hotels and restaurants and travel in the comfort of an intimate group. Tours That Delve Into the History  The UCLA History Department’s Travel Series offers travelers the best of both worlds. Led and planned by the nationally ranked UCLA History Department, in partnership with UCLA Alumni Travel, each tour is led by a faculty member who has intimate knowledge of the history and culture of featured destinations. At the start of each day’s tour, the accompanying faculty member provides travelers with a breakfast lecture intended to familiarize them with the historical significance and understanding of the destination’s sites. And to help travelers prepare for the trip, they are given a suggested reading list a few months prior to the trip. An Intimate Travel Experience  Every tour is capped at 25 people to ensure that each traveler enjoys an intimate travel experience. This allows the traveler to develop a relationship with their faculty member as well as their fellow travel companions. Travelers can access locales and venues courtesy of the UCLA History Department. And many of the trip’s destinations and off-the-beaten path sites are only possible with a small group. Five-Star Accommodations  Guests stay at the finest hotels each destination offers and are transported on a fully air-conditioned luxury motor coach. Bookings are made at hotels that meet strict UCLA History Department standards and a tour operator is specially assigned to each tour to ensure that the trip runs smoothly.
