Min Zhou was the founding chair of the UCLA Department of Asian American Studies. Zhou’s research areas include international migration, Chinese immigration and race/ethnicity. She has published seven books, including Chinatown: The Socioeconomic Potential of an Urban Enclave and Growing up American: How Vietnamese Children Adapt to Life in the United States. Born and raised in China, Zhou is currently conducting research on immigrant sending communities in South China.
