Michael Allen is a distinguished professor of English and Italian Renaissance studies though he teaches the whole range of medieval and early modern literature, especially Chaucer and Shakespeare. A popular professor, he has been honored with the Eby Award for Undergraduate Teaching. He has been director of UCLA’s Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies, president of the Renaissance Society of America and a Phi Beta Kappa visiting Scholar.
