Bruin Woods - Accommodations

Accommodations

The Setting

UCLA Alumni Association’s Family resort is located on the north shore of Lake Arrowhead in the San Bernardino Mountains, just two hours from Los Angeles. The setting is truly spectacular, comprised of 40 acres of mountains, forest, and wildlife. The elevation of 5,200 feet with sparkling clear air, and the fresh smell of pines is a welcome change from the hustle of city life.

The weather is almost always perfect. Summer days are warm and sunny with temperatures reaching 85 degrees. Evenings are crisp and clear, rarely below 55 degrees, with a dazzling display of stars. An occasional thunderstorm adds lots of excitement, but rarely interferes with the activities and fun.

Lake Arrowhead is the premier freshwater lake resort in Southern California, rich in history and tradition. The lake is alive with activity and the Village itself offers an array of shopping opportunities.

Lodging

• Wooded, charming, and comfortable
• Newly renovated two-story condolets with one or two bathrooms
• Queen size beds

You’ll have a fabulous guest unit at Bruin Woods. Our unique condolets offer a downstairs queen-size bed and private bath for the parents, while the kids enjoy the upstairs loft, nearly all with separate baths. There are also three vintage cottages for those who prefer a touch of nostalgia.

The Main Lodge provides the focal point for the entire camp. It offers exceptional dining facilities and fine social settings. From its gracious decks and patios, you see rolling lawns, deep green forests, and fabulous Lake Arrowhead itself.

Accommodations are wonderfully charming and comfortable. Most guest units are two-story condolets, with two bathrooms, although there are a few one-bath units for smaller families. All are located in the woods around the Main Lodge, reached by a network of paths.

Accessible rooms are available for guests with disabilities, and other facilities are program accessible. Individuals who wish to request accommodations should advise us of special needs at least thirty days in advance.

Cuisine

• Three delicious meals daily
• Gracious dining rooms
• Outdoor patio dining
• International themed buffets
• Outdoor BBQ’s
• Children’s menu

The dinner bell at UCLA’s Lake Arrowhead Conference Center has, for over 40 years, signalled great food; and that tradition extends to Bruin Woods. You’ll dine in one of three gracious dining rooms or at picnic tables under giant umbrellas on the patio. Tables are large so you can get to know other families. Breakfast is buffet style – bacon, eggs, pancakes, muffins, lots of fruit, cereal and yogurt. Lunch is also buffet style so you can match the quantity and type of food to your personal needs. Dinners are served either buffet or family style on china and linen.

It’s a real challenge to satisfy the diverse tastes of over 300 energetic campers, and our chef does it with delicious style.

We even have a grill where you can buy between-meal treats and snacks. Bruin Burgers, yogurt, smoothies, and ice cream top the list. Through our Bruin Honor Bar tradition, adults enjoy opening and closing cocktail parties, as well as peaceful “adult time” throughout the week in our beautiful Lakeview Room.
